[이천석의 사설] 6·3 선거가 남긴 거대한 의혹, ‘확률 0%’의 사전투표 조작 의혹 전수조사하라

이번 6·3 재보궐선거 결과는 대한민국 선거 관리 시스템의 신뢰성에 거대한 의문부호를 던졌다. 선거 과정 전반에서 드러난 부실함과 석연치 않은 개표 흐름은 유권자들로 하여금 민주주의의 근간인 투표의 공정성을 근본적으로 의심하게 만들고 있다.

특히 이번 선거에서 불거진 사전투표와 본투표 간의 극단적인 수치 불일치는, 지난 대통령 선거 당시 제기되었던 ‘조작된 선거’의 악몽과 합리적 의심을 다시금 확고한 확신으로 돌려놓고 있다.

이번 선거를 비롯해 역대 의혹 선거의 핵심 쟁점은 늘 ‘사전투표’에 있었다. 본선거(본투표)에서는 특정 후보가 관내 모든 투표구에서 압도적인 우위를 점했음에도 불구하고, 사전선거 결과만 열면 약속이나 한 듯 모든 투표구에서 정반대로 패배하는 기이한 현상이 반복됐다.

이는 단순히 정치적 성향의 차이나 표심의 변화로 설명할 수 있는 영역이 아니다. 통계학적으로 동전 500개를 던져 500개 모두가 단 한 면만 나오는 확률에 가깝다. 자연 상태의 무작위 투표에서는 도저히 일어날 수 없는, 즉 ‘통계학적 불가능’을 의미한다.

숫자는 거짓말을 하지 않는다. 인위적인 개입이나 시스템적 조작이 선행되지 않고서는 이토록 정교하고 일방적인 통계적 쏠림이 전 투표구에서 동시다발적으로 일어날 수 없다.

이러한 통계적 수수께끼를 지난 대선이라는 거울에 비추어보면, 당시 이재명 후보가 당선 가도에 올랐던 과정 역시 공정한 민심의 결과물이었는지 깊은 의구심을 갖지 않을 수 없다.

본투표의 흐름을 전면적으로 뒤집는 사전투표의 미스터리가 만약 권력과 선거 관리 기관의 묵인 혹은 기획 아래 짜인 각본이었다면, 이는 민주 정당성을 통째로 흔드는 국가 전복적 범죄 행위나 다름없다. 야권 내 분열을 조장하고 특정 정치적 국면을 타개하기 위해 선거 결과에 손을 댔다는 합리적 의심은 이제 외면할 수 없는 시대적 과제가 되었다.

국민의 불신이 이토록 확고하고 통계적 증거가 명백한 상황에서, 단순히 ‘음모론’으로 치부하며 침묵하는 것은 직무유기다. 가짜 민주주의와 진짜 조작을 가려내기 위해 지금 당장 필요한 것은 전면적인 전수조사와 성역 없는 특별검사(특검) 도입이다.

중앙선거관리위원회의 투·개표 시스템 전체를 철저히 검증하고, 사전투표함의 이송과 보관, 그리고 데이터 처리 과정에 이르기까지 한 치의 의혹도 없이 백일하에 드러내야 한다. 민심을 왜곡한 부정선거가 사실로 밝혀진다면 관련자들을 엄벌하는 것은 물론, 대선 당선의 정당성 역시 전면 재검토되어야 마땅하다.

주권자인 국민의 표를 훔치는 행위는 민주주의 체제에 대한 가장 악질적인 테러다. 정부와 국회는 즉각 특검 조치에 나서 국민의 빼앗긴 신뢰를 찾아주어야 할 것이다.

[C.S.Lee's Editorial] The Deep Suspicions Left by the June 3 Election: A Comprehensive Investigation is Needed into the '0% Probability' Early Voting Anomaly

The results of the June 3 by-elections have cast a massive shadow of doubt over the credibility of South Korea’s election management system. The administrative flaws and questionable counting trends witnessed throughout the election process are leading voters to fundamentally question the fairness of the ballot—the very bedrock of democracy. In particular, the extreme statistical discrepancy between early voting and election-day voting in this election has solidified what were once reasonable suspicions during the last presidential election into a firm conviction of systematic manipulation.

The core of the controversy in this election, as well as in past disputed elections, has invariably centered on "early voting." In the main election (election-day voting), a specific candidate maintained an overwhelming lead across all voting districts. Yet, the moment the early voting ballot boxes were opened, the results miraculously reversed in every single district, as if following a pre-written script.

This cannot be explained away simply by shifts in political inclination or voter sentiment. Statistically, this is equivalent to tossing 500 coins and having every single one land on the exact same side. It represents a "statistical impossibility" that cannot occur under natural, random voting conditions. Numbers do not lie. Without artificial intervention or systemic manipulation, such a mathematically precise and one-sided skew could not have occurred simultaneously across all voting districts.

When reflecting on the past presidential election through the lens of this statistical anomaly, one cannot help but harbor deep skepticism about whether candidate Lee Jae-myung’s victory at the time was truly the byproduct of a fair and democratic public will. If the mystery of early voting, which entirely overturned the momentum of election-day voting, was indeed a scripted outcome orchestrated or tolerated by political power and election authorities, it amounts to nothing less than a subversive crime against democratic legitimacy. The reasonable suspicion that election outcomes were manipulated to stoke divisions within the opposition and defuse volatile political situations has now become an undeniable mandate for truth.

In a situation where public distrust is this firmly rooted and statistical anomalies are this stark, dismissing these concerns as mere "conspiracy theories" and remaining silent constitutes a gross dereliction of duty. To distinguish genuine democracy from fabricated outcomes, what is urgently required right now is a comprehensive recount and an independent counsel (special prosecutor) investigation that spares no one.

The entire voting and counting system of the National Election Commission must be rigorously audited. Every stage of the process—from the transport and storage of early voting boxes to the handling of electronic data—must be brought to light without a single shred of doubt. If a fraudulent election that distorted the public will is proven true, those responsible must be severely punished, and the very legitimacy of the presidential election victory must be entirely reconsidered. Stealing the votes of the sovereign public is the most heinous act of terror against a democratic system. The government and the National Assembly must immediately initiate a special prosecution to restore the public’s stolen trust.
