[이천석의 사설] 국제적 고립을 자초하는 이재명 정권, 국익의 파탄을 막아야 한다

대한민국이 국제사회에서 점차 고립되고 있다는 우려가 현실로 드러나고 있다. 이번 유엔총회는 그 사실을 여실히 보여주었다. 미국을 비롯한 주요 우방국들은 물론, G7 국가들로부터도 대한민국은 철저히 외면당하는 모습을 보였다. 이는 단순한 외교적 해프닝이 아니다. 국가 지도자의 무책임한 행보가 불러온 심각한 국제적 고립의 징후다. 이번 APEC회의에서도 그 징후가 보이고 있다.

외면받는 대한민국

이재명 정권은 국제무대에서 신뢰를 잃었다. 세계 주요국 정상들과의 양자 회담은 거의 성사되지 않았으며, 공동 의제에서도 한국의 목소리는 찾아보기 어려웠다. 한때 글로벌 무대에서 ‘중견국 리더십’을 강조하던 대한민국은 이제 뒷전으로 밀려나고 있다. 경제, 안보, 외교 모든 측면에서 협력의 고리를 놓친 채 홀로 남아 있는 형국이다. 이는 명백히 현 정권의 외교 무능과 지도력 부재가 낳은 참담한 결과다.

국익을 위협하는 무책임

국제사회에서의 신뢰 상실은 곧 경제적·안보적 손실로 이어진다. 한국이 배제된 자리에서 글로벌 공급망 재편이나 안보 협력 방안이 논의된다면, 그 피해는 고스란히 국민에게 돌아올 것이다. 특히 동북아 안보 위기가 고조되는 상황에서 외교적 고립은 국가 생존 자체를 위협한다. 국익을 지키기 위해 앞장서야 할 대통령이 오히려 국익을 해치는 걸림돌로 전락한 것이다.

지도자의 퇴진만이 답이다

이제 대한민국은 분명한 선택 앞에 서 있다. 이재명 대통령이 스스로 자리에서 물러나든, 국민적 압력에 의해 끌려 내려오든, 둘 중 하나밖에 남지 않았다. 더 이상 무능한 정권 아래서 대한민국의 미래를 담보로 잡혀 있을 수는 없다. 국제사회에서 외면받는 현실은 곧 우리 국민의 고통으로 이어진다.

대한민국은 더 이상 고립을 감내할 여력이 없다. 국가를 위해, 국민을 위해, 그리고 국익을 지키기 위해 이재명 정권의 종식은 불가피하다.

South Korea is facing growing isolation in the international community. The recent UN General Assembly has made this reality painfully clear. Not only has the United States distanced itself, but even the G7 nations showed little interest in engaging with Seoul. This is not a diplomatic mishap; it is a warning sign of a government that has lost credibility abroad. Such signs have also begun to emerge at the ongoing APEC summit.

A Nation Left Behind

Under President Lee’s leadership, South Korea has been sidelined on the global stage. Key bilateral meetings failed to materialize, and the nation’s voice was absent in discussions on critical issues. Once seen as a “middle power” with global leadership, Korea is now being pushed to the margins. This decline is a direct result of the administration’s incompetence and lack of vision.

A Threat to National Interests

Losing trust internationally will inevitably translate into economic and security losses. Decisions on global supply chains and security frameworks are being made without Korea at the table. For a nation facing rising regional threats, diplomatic isolation is nothing short of a national crisis. The president, who should be safeguarding national interests, has instead become their greatest liability.

Time for Leadership to Step Down

South Korea now faces an unavoidable choice: either President Lee steps down voluntarily, or he must be forced out by public pressure. The nation cannot afford to continue sacrificing its future under failed leadership. International abandonment will soon turn into hardship for the people themselves.

The survival of the Republic requires decisive change. For the sake of the nation and its citizens, the end of this administration is inevitable.
