[이천석의 사설] 공산화로 치닫는 정권의 폭주, 국민이 막아야 한다

이재명 정권이 본색을 숨기지 않고 드러내고 있다. 얼마전에는 내란특별재판부라는 해괴한 기구를 만들어 사법권을 장악하려는 발상을 가졌고 이는 그 자체로 민주주의 파괴 선언과 다름 없었다. 이미 좌편향으로 기울어진 사법부를 완전히 정권의 친위대로 만들려는 노골적 시도였다. 사법부가 권력의 도구로 전락하는 순간, 법치는 무너지고 민주주의는 껍데기만 남는다. 

최근에는 전 공무원을 대상으로 사상 검열을 시도하려고 계획중인 것이 발각되었다. 이는 전형적인 공산주의 발상이라 하지 않을 수 없다.

정권은 여기서 멈추지 않는다. 교육부 수장 자리에 최교진이라는 인물을 결국은 앉혔다. 이는 자라나는 미래 세대에게 공산주의적 사고를 주입하려는 정치적 의도가 숨어 있다는 강한 우려를 낳는다. 교육은 백년대계다. 교육을 특정 이념의 실험장으로 전락시키는 순간, 자유민주주의의 토대는 송두리째 흔들리게 된다.

더욱 심각한 것은 종교 길들이기다. 이미 유명 목사들을 수사하고 구속하면서 종교를 권력의 도구화하려는 조짐이 나타났다. 종교 지도자들은 그들의 신념에 따라, 불의를 목격했을 때 국민을 향해 목소리를 내는 것이 당연한 일이다. 이를 억압하고 침묵시키는 것은 전형적인 공산국가에서나 볼 수 있는 행태다.

이재명 정권의 행보는 이제 단순한 기우가 아니다. 사법부 장악, 교육 통제, 종교 탄압, 언론 길들이기까지 이어지는 일련의 조치들은 공산주의적 독재 체제로 나아가는 전형적인 수순이다. 이 길을 계속 따른다면, 대한민국 국민은 자유를 박탈당한 채 ‘인민’이라는 이름 아래 집단의 도구로 전락할 위기에 처하게 된다.

국민은 묻고 있다. 과연 이 모든 것이 단순한 우려인가, 아니면 현실로 다가오는 위기인가. 역사는 말한다. 자유를 스스로 지키지 못한 국가는 언제나 독재와 전체주의의 먹잇감이 되어왔다. 지금 이재명 정권의 위험한 실험을 방치한다면, 대한민국은 우리가 알던 자유의 나라가 아니라, 경험해 보지 못한 독재·공산주의 국가로 전락할 것이다.

따라서 국민은 깨어 있어야 한다. 자유민주주의를 지키는 최후의 보루는 바로 국민의 눈과 목소리다. 권력의 독주와 이념 세뇌를 결코 용납해서는 안 된다. 지금이야말로 대한민국의 자유와 미래를 지키기 위해 온 국민이 분연히 일어나야 할 때다.

[C.S.Lee's Editorial] The Regime’s March Toward Communization—The People Must Stop It

The Lee Jae-myung administration is now openly revealing its true colors. Its move to establish the bizarre “Special Court for Insurrection” is nothing less than a declaration of war against democracy. Already leaning heavily to the left, the judiciary is now being blatantly converted into the regime’s personal guard. Once the judiciary becomes a tool of power, the rule of law collapses, leaving democracy as nothing but an empty shell.

The regime does not stop there. It seeks to appoint Choi Gyo-jin as Minister of Education, raising grave concern that the government intends to indoctrinate the younger generation with communist ideology. Education is the foundation of a nation’s future. When it is reduced to a laboratory for ideological experimentation, the very pillars of Korea’s liberal democracy are shaken to their core.

The clearest evidence of this drift toward communization is the taming of religion. Already, prominent pastors have been investigated and even imprisoned, a blatant attempt to weaponize faith as an instrument of power. Religious leaders, in accordance with their convictions, have a natural duty to speak out against injustice and to positively influence society. To suppress that voice is a practice found only in communist regimes.

This regime’s conduct has now gone far beyond mere concern. The capture of the judiciary, the control of education, the suppression of religion, and the muzzling of the press are all classic steps on the road to communist-style dictatorship. If Korea continues down this path, its people will be stripped of their freedom and reduced to instruments of the collective under the hollow name of “the people.”

The citizens are asking: Is this merely an exaggerated fear, or a crisis that is already upon us? History teaches one clear lesson—nations that fail to defend their own liberty always end up as prey to dictatorship and totalitarianism. If the Lee administration’s dangerous experiment is allowed to proceed unchecked, Korea will cease to be the free country we have known and will instead become an unfamiliar communist dictatorship.

Therefore, the people must remain vigilant. The last line of defense for liberal democracy is the eyes and voices of its citizens. We must never permit authoritarian overreach or ideological indoctrination. Now is the time for all Koreans to rise up with determination to defend the freedom and future of their nation.
