[이천석의 사설] 도둑이 도둑을 잡는 세상 — 법의 심판자가 법을 어긴다면

특검 검사 민중기의 미공개 정보 이용 의혹, 정의의 신뢰를 무너뜨리다

“패가망신을 해주겠다.”
이재명이 기자회견에서 했던 이 말은 부정과 불법에 대한 강한 경고로 들렸다.
그러나 그 약속의 무게는 이제 그 자신과 그의 주변을 향하고 있다.
민중기가 사건 수사 중 입수한 미공개 정보를 이용해 부당이득을 취했다는 보도가 나왔기 때문이다.
사실이라면, 이는 단순한 도덕적 일탈이 아니라 법의 집행자가 법을 조롱한 사건이다.

검사는 정의의 최후 보루여야 한다.
그가 수사 중 알게 된 내부 정보를 사익에 이용했다면, 그것은 국민이 위임한 ‘공권력’을 사적으로 도둑질한 것이나 다름없다.
‘도둑이 도둑을 잡는’ 풍자가 현실이 된다면, 국민은 더 이상 법을 신뢰할 수 없다.
특검의 이름으로 권력을 휘두르며 사적 이익을 챙겼다는 의혹은, 법의 존엄을 스스로 훼손하는 자해 행위다.

이재명은 과거 “부당한 주식 거래로 차익을 얻은 자는 패가망신하게 하겠다”고 호언했다.
그렇다면 지금이 바로 그 약속을 시험받을 순간이다.
자신의 정치적 유불리를 떠나, 불법이 있다면 그 누구라도 예외 없이 법의 심판대에 세워야 한다.
그것이 국민 앞에서 했던 말의 진정성을 증명하는 유일한 길이다.
그렇지 않다면, 양아치 대통령에 양아치 특검이라는 비난을 면치 못 할 것이다.이번 사건은 단지 개인의 일탈로 끝날 문제가 아니다. 

허위자백 강요에 의한 고문치사에 이어
정의의 이름으로 정의를 무너뜨린다면, 사회는 스스로를 부정하는 셈이다.
검찰과 정치권 모두, “법 위에 서려는 자가 가장 먼저 무너진다”는 경고를 잊지 말아야 한다.
지금 필요한 것은 변명도, 정치적 방어도 아니다.
투명한 조사와 책임 있는 실천만이 국민의 신뢰를 되찾는 길이다.

법과 정의 위에 권력은 없다.
파렴치한 양아치 민중기는 즉각 구속 수사해야 한다.

Special Prosecutor’s Use of Nonpublic Information Shatters Trust in Justice

“I’ll ruin them utterly.”
When Lee Jae-myung made this declaration at a press conference, it sounded like a stern warning against corruption and illegality.
But the weight of that vow now seems to turn toward himself and those around him.
Reports allege that a prosecutor on Min Joong-gi’s special investigation team on the Kim Keon-hee case used nonpublic information obtained during the investigation to gain personal profit.
If true, this is not merely a lapse in ethics—it is an act of mocking the law by those who are sworn to uphold it.

A prosecutor should stand as the final bastion of justice.
If one exploits confidential information for private gain, that is nothing short of stealing the public authority entrusted by the people.
When the satirical phrase “a thief catching a thief” becomes reality, the public’s trust in justice collapses.
To wield prosecutorial power in the name of fairness while pursuing personal enrichment is an act of self-destruction against the sanctity of the law.

Lee Jae-myung once vowed, “Those who profit from illegal stock trading will be ruined completely.”
Now is the moment for that promise to be tested.
Regardless of political interests or convenience, if wrongdoing has occurred, no one should be exempt from legal accountability.
That is the only way for him to prove that his words before the public were more than mere rhetoric.
Otherwise, He cannot escape the criticism of presiding as a rogue president with a rogue prosecutor.”

This incident is not a matter of individual misconduct.
If justice is destroyed in the name of justice itself, society denies its own foundation.
Both the prosecution and political leadership must remember this:
Those who seek to stand above the law are the first to fall beneath it.
What is needed now is not excuses or partisan defense, but transparent investigation and accountable action.

There is no power above the law and justice.
That simple truth weighs heavily once again today.
