대한민국 외교사에 유례없는 참사가 발생했다. 이재명 대통령이 자신의 SNS를 통해 국제사회의 민감한 현안인 이스라엘 분쟁을 언급하며, 확인되지 않은 사실을 근거로 이스라엘을 나치나 과거 일본의 위안부 학살에 비유한 것이다. 이는 70여 년간 맹방으로 이어온 이스라엘과의 외교 관계를 뿌리째 흔드는 행위이자, 국가 수반으로서 가져야 할 최소한의 정세 판단력조차 의심케 하는 ‘정신 나간’ 작태다.

‘가짜 뉴스’ 근절 외치더니 스스로 생산자 된 대통령

더욱 어처구니가 없는 것은 이 대통령의 이중잣대다. 평소 가짜 뉴스가 민주주의를 파괴한다며 엄단 의지를 밝혀온 본인이, 정작 증명되지 않은 사안을 사실인 양 포스팅하며 국제적 혼란을 야기했다. 대통령의 말 한마디는 국가의 공식 입장으로 간주된다. 확인되지 않은 정보를 바탕으로 우방국을 향해 치욕스러운 비난을 쏟아낸 것은, 스스로 가짜 뉴스의 온상이 되어 국격을 시궁창에 처박은 것과 다름없다.

맹방 이스라엘을 향한 ‘치욕적 비난’, 외교적 자살 행위다

이스라엘을 반인륜적 범죄 집단에 비유한 것은 단순한 비판을 넘어선 ‘외교적 자살 행위’다. 국제 관계에서 역사적 비극을 비유의 수단으로 삼는 것은 가장 금기시되는 금도다. 특히 중동의 핵심 우방이자 정보·안보 협력 파트너인 이스라엘을 향한 이러한 공격적 언행이 대한민국 국익에 대체 어떤 도움이 된단 말인가. 무책임한 한마디에 국민의 안전과 국가 안보는 백척간두의 위기에 놓이게 됐다.

국익 위해 결단해야, 더 이상의 자격 상실은 국민의 불행

대통령의 가벼운 언행이 반복될수록 대한민국은 국제무대에서 ‘믿지 못할 국가’, ‘상식 밖의 국가’로 낙인찍히고 있다. 국익에 전혀 도움이 되지 않는, 아니 오히려 국익을 정면으로 해치고 있는 대통령의 언행은 이제 한계를 넘어섰다. 스스로의 발언이 가져올 파장조차 가늠하지 못하는 인물에게 국가의 운명을 계속 맡길 수는 없다.

대한민국의 내일과 국격을 위해서라도 이 대통령은 이번 사태에 대해 엄중히 책임져야 한다. 외교를 망치고 국격을 무너뜨린 채 가짜 뉴스의 발원지가 된 대통령에게 남은 길은 신속히 그 자리에서 물러나는 것뿐이다. 더 이상의 ‘어처구니없는’ 작태를 지켜보는 것은 국민에게 너무나 큰 고통이자 불행이다.

A diplomatic catastrophe unprecedented in South Korean history has occurred. President Lee Jae-myung, using his own SNS to address the highly sensitive international issue of the Israeli conflict, based his comments on unverified information and went as far as comparing Israel to Nazi Germany and past Japanese atrocities against comfort women. This action fundamentally shakes the foundation of South Korea's relationship with Israel, a reliable ally of over 70 years, and leaves the international community questioning if the head of state possesses even the minimum level of geopolitical judgment. Such behavior is simply "insane."

He Cried "Eradicate Fake News," Yet Became the Source Himself

What makes this even more preposterous is President Lee’s double standard. He, who usually claims "fake news" destroys democracy and declares strong intent to suppress it, has himself created an international stir by posting unverified claims as facts. A President's words are considered the official stance of the nation. For the nation’s head to unleash humiliating accusations against an ally based on unconfirmed information is equivalent to becoming the source of fake news oneself, dragging the national dignity through the mud.

The "Humiliating Accusations" Towards Ally Israel: It is Diplomatic Suicide

Comparing Israel to a group that committed crimes against humanity goes beyond simple criticism and constitutes "diplomatic suicide." In international relations, using historical tragedies as tools for comparison is the ultimate taboo. Especially when directed at a core ally and partner in intelligence and security cooperation in the Middle East, how can these aggressive remarks possibly benefit South Korea's national interest? Due to one irresponsible sentence, the people's safety and national security have been placed in immediate peril.

A Decision Must Be Made for National Interest; His Continued Disqualification is a Tragedy for the People

With the President's careless remarks repeated, South Korea is being branded in the international arena as an "untrustworthy nation," an "irrational nation." The President’s words and actions, which do not benefit the national interest in any way but rather directly harm it, have now crossed the line. The fate of the nation cannot continue to be left in the hands of someone who cannot even fathom the consequences of their own statements.

President Lee must take serious responsibility for this incident for the sake of South Korea's future and national dignity. For a President who has ruined diplomacy, brought down national standing, and became a source of fake news, the only path left is to swiftly step down from his position. Observing any more "preposterous" antics is a tragedy and a severe burden on the people.
